Texas Ranked Number One Growth State of 2021

Mar 8, 2022

Reclaiming its Number One Growth State status, Texas narrowly beat Florida for top honors in 2021, based on transactional data compiled for the annual U-Haul Growth Index. The state held the top spot from 2016-18 but ranked second to Florida in 2019 and Tennessee in 2020.

“The Texas economy is growing fast,” stated Kristina Ramos, U-Haul Company of South Austin president. “With a strong job market and low cost of living, it’s a no brainer. Texas doesn’t have an income tax, so families get more for their money here.”

Growth brings many opportunities to the Lone Star State including attracting top-tier employers. The Texas Lakes and Hill Country are certainly the recipients of those moving from other states who recognize how special this area is.

Newcomers love the Texas Lakes and Hill Country’s outstanding state parks, hiking, mountain biking, four-wheeling, rock climbing, cave exploring, backpacking and camping areas. They gather together with locals to celebrate the best in music, culinary, multicultural and specialty events, becoming an important part the local community. Gregg Ranch is grateful to provide new homes for those who already live here and those moving to the area.

What states are the new residents leaving to establish lives in Texas? U-Haul, the authority on migration trends, provides a comprehensive overview of where people are moving from based on data from their more than 23,000 U-Haul truck- and trailer-sharing locations.

“We see a lot of growth coming from the East and West Coast,” said Matt Merrill, U-Haul Area District Vice President of the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex and West Texas. “A lot of people moving here from California (and) New York. We also see a lot of people coming in from the Chicago markets. I think that’s a lot due to the job growth – a lot of opportunity here. The cost of living here is much lower than those areas. Texas is open for business.”

Located in charming Marble Falls, Texas this 240-acre master-planned community is northwest of Austin and is anticipated to be home to approximately 700 single-family and 250 multi-family residences. A central community area with an outdoor pool, ramada, barbeque area, shaded play area and bocce ball and horseshoe pits are planned. Gregg Ranch outdoor amenities will also include 5.5 miles of jogging and biking trails throughout the community, plus a dog park. The community is conveniently located at the intersection of State Highways 281 and 71, and is a short drive to Lake Marble Falls, Lake LBJ and the famed Texas Lake and Hill Country.
