June in the Texas Hill Country is made for adventure. Long, sun-filled days, mild nights and gentle breezes carry you from one destination to another in a celebration of summer and freedom. We’ve found six eclectic seasonal experiences in and around Marble Falls – and all less than an hour from Gregg Ranch – sure to make this is a June to remember.

 

Hollywood in Hill Country, June 2-5

There are few things that go together better than independent film and the spirit of a small town Texas. Which is exactly what you’ll find at the Hill Country Film Festival in Fredericksburg. Created to celebrate and showcase filmmakers from Texas, the festival launched in 2010. In addition to screening independent films, both short and feature length, the Hill Country Film Festival hosts filmmaker Q&A/interviews, discussion panels, a filmmaker’s lounge and festival parties. Blanco Lavender Festival, June 10-12

Move over bluebonnets, lavender Is the flower of the month in central Texas this June!

The Blanco Lavender Festival is scheduled June 10-12 and offers a range of live music, wine and artisans to enjoy. About half an hour from Marble Falls you will find Texas’ first commercial lavender farm, Hill Country Lavender. It will be open for visitors to enjoy during the festival. Additionally, The Lavender Market, on the grounds of the historic Blanco County Courthouse, is a must-see highlight of the festival. Select artists and craftspeople from across Texas and beyond will offer the finest lavender-related pleasures and treasures. Head to the “Big Tent” to enjoy the festival’s famous Lavender Lizzie (Margarita and champagne) or sample some fine wines from central Texas and popular choices from Blanco’s own brewing companies. And what would a festival be without music? Each festival afternoon, grab your refreshment and head to the park for live performances in the shade of the big oak trees.

A Peach of an Adventure, June 16-18

The annual Stonewall Peach JAMboree and Rodeo is one sweet adventure. Enjoy plenty of peachy activities, including a peach show and auction, a children’s peach patch, a peach-eating contest, and the Peach Queen coronation. The celebration also includes rodeo action and live music. It all takes place at the Stonewall rodeo grounds. For more info visit stonewalltexas.com

A Fair to Remember, June 17 – 18

Nothing says summer like a county fair. The Burnet County Area Fair runs June 17 and 18. With 19 categories – from aprons to woodworking, baked good to vegetables and so much more – (including ice cream) there is a category for everyone to enter, or just enjoy. Residents of Burnet County, as well as the adjacent counties (Bell, Blanco, Lampasas, Llano, San Saba, Travis, and Williamson) are eligible to enter and participate in the 2022 Fair!  You can find information on how to enter at www.burnetcountyfair.com.

Aquaboom, June 17 – July 9

This annual event in Kingsland features a children’s parade, aqua boom land parade, arts and craft vendors, Cow’ographers Wild West Show, Reed Helicopter Rides, steak and BBQ cook-off, patriotic dinner and fish fry, street dance, poker run, horseshoe pitch & washer toss, obstacle course race, raft race, rubber duckie race, boat parade, live music, pageant and golf tournament. Antique Engine and Tractor Pull, June 25

If you are looking for some old-time bragging rights or just some old-time amazing sights, the Johnson City Antique Engine and Tractor Pull is for you. All the tractors here must have been built in 1965 or earlier, but they are still up to the strength pulling challenge. Competitions are held for best antique equipment with categories such as Gasoline Class, Diesel Class and Open Class Lawn Mower. The event also has a kids’ tractor pull as well as a plethora of vendors and food to sample.

Celebrate the official start of Texas summer this June and enjoy one or all of these charming celebrations in and around Marble Falls.
