Summer is just made for swimming, especially in the Texas Hill Country where highs average in the mid-to upper 90s in June, July, and August. Of course, being nestled in lake country means there are plenty of places to take a dip. So, whether you are looking for a swimming pool or a swimming hole, check out some of our favorite spots to cool down. Please check with individual locations for opening dates, as they may vary due to weather.
Lakeside Park on Lake Marble Falls
Located right on Lake Marble Falls, Lakeside Park offers a 4,100-square-foot pool with a 1-meter diving board and water slide. Depths range from three feet to 11 feet in the main pool. The wading pool depth is one foot. The park also offers access to the lake. Lakeside Park features plenty of green space and a sandy beach lake entrance.

Lago Vista City Pool
Make a day of it at the Lago Vista City Pool on the north shore of Lake Travis.
This community pool features a large shallow-end beach entry, a flowing giant mushroom, splash buckets that are perfect for young children, a free swim area, lap lanes and a deck with patio chairs and tables. Two pavilions can be rented during normal hours.

Johnson City Community Pool
Johnson City Community Park has plenty of features to keep kids busy all day. There is a large swimming pool and a smaller toddler pool. There are two playgrounds, one for older kids and another for younger ones. You will also find a skateboard park, tennis courts, walking trails and picnic tables under huge pecan trees.

Hancock Springs, Lampasas
Hancock Park’s pool is unique. It is a bit of Lampasas history, constructed in the very early 1900s, and a summertime recreation spot for every kid that grew up here since that time. Hancock Park was the original Baptist Encampment for Central Texas and people came from miles around to be baptized in the cool spring waters. It is fed by a large spring, and this keeps the water at a constant cool 69 degrees year-round.

Devil’s Waterhole at Inks Lake State Park
Inks Lake offers plenty of space to swim, but Devil’s Waterhole is a hill country favorite. For the brave at heart, cliff jumping is a big attraction here. This is one swimming hole where it is worth taking a plunge. When Valley Spring Creek is running, you can also explore scenic waterfalls upstream of the lake.

Colorado Bend State Park
Spicewood Springs is one of the best swimming holes in the Hill Country. A short, flat trail will lead you to the first of multiple spring-fed swimming holes. Continue up the Spicewood Springs trail for more pools and waterfalls. With so many choices it’s like having your own private lagoon. Swimming is also allowed in the river.

LCRA Narrows Recreation Area on the Colorado River
The Narrows is a Lower Colorado River Authority day-use park in Spicewood. There are multiple activities available including swimming. stand-up paddle boarding and beachcombing.

Krause Springs
Krause Springs is a privately owned swimming and camping site in Spicewood. There are 32 springs on the property, and several feed the manmade pool and the natural pool which flows into Lake Travis. Guests are also welcomed to relax and to stroll through the Butterfly Gardens – take time to listen to the music of the wind chimes and the fountains during your visit.
