January And February Are Full of Events to Keep Your Family Active and Entertained

 

The hustle and bustle of the holidays may be over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Every year the Texas Hill Country comes alive with activities to keep you and your family active and entertained. From a taste of cowboy culture to musical theater or a day on the lake to a wine tour, there is something for everyone to enjoy near Gregg Ranch as winter slowly gives way to spring. INTRO TO KAYAKING

This is a great way to introduce yourself and your family to a favorite Hill Country activity. Included are discussions on boat parts and safety with instruction on paddling techniques, mid-lake re-entry and planning considerations. $35 fee includes rental. Discount on 24-hour rental after completion of the class.

I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT – NOW CHANGE

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a witty musical revue that tackles modern love in all its forms: from the perils and pitfalls of the first date to marriage, children and the twilight years of life. Set in the modern world and told in a series of vignettes and songs, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” traces the overall arc of relationships throughout the course of a life. An insightful and hilarious musical, this show will have audience members shouting, “This is my life!”

When: Friday, Saturday and Sundays through February. 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:00 p.m. Sundays

HILL COUNTRY INDIAN ARTIFACT SHOW

Discover a wide variety of the finest Native American artifacts from Texas and the United States, including arrowheads, pottery, beads and books at the Hill Country Indian Artifact show.

HIGHLAND LAKES QUILT FESTIVAL 2023 QUILT SHOW

Skill and art meet in fabric at the Highland Lakes Quilt Festival and show. You will find 100+ quilts on display, vendors with sewing notions, fabric, tools, scissor sharpening, quilt patterns and more. There is also a Guild Boutique with unique custom-made gifts, quilts for purchase. Bits and Pieces of vintage textile and remnants Silent Auction.

When: February 3 and 4. 9 a.m-4 p.m.

COWBOY COFFEE AT INKS LAKE STATE PARK

Join a park ranger or volunteer for a hot cup of fresh coffee to start your morning off right! Learn how the cowboys of the “wild west” made their caffeinated brew and how they prepared their breakfast out in the country. Breakfast will only occur on the first Saturday of every month in 2023. To promote green initiatives, we encourage you to bring your cup or thermos. It is held at Central Park by Restroom 4 and the park store. Park admission is free with a Texas State Parks Pass, or you can purchase a day pass to the park!

When: Saturdays through February 25, 9-10 a.m.

LUCKENBACH BLUES FESTIVAL

The 16th annual Luckenbach Blues Festival showcases an all-day lineup of blues musicians and bands.

GUIDED NATURE HIKE AT INKS LAKE STATE PARK

Take an easy guided hike to Devil’s Waterhole while learning about native plants and animals and the park’s geology.
